SMARGINATURE

Smarginature is a project that combines works from 1997-2010 with an internal analysis. It explores the concept of marginalization, which is the loss of certain aspects of a memory, impression, or emotion when it enters the psyche (Elena Ferrante, “My Brilliant Friend”). Although fragments of the original perception remain, they are altered and enveloped by the emotions evoked by the memory. The aim of Smarginature is to connect with our most intimate and fragmented selves without judgment, to embrace our contradictions, and to recognize the many different identities that make us who we are. As Pirandello said, each of us has “one hundred thousand” identities, but we are none of them. Despite this, there is a force that tries to unify us into a single identity. Smarginature embraces the edge of chaos, a creative space where we can break free from rigid moralistic ideals that deny parts of ourselves. In this space, we can harmoniously aggregate our identities and escape the chaos of madness.
